Thousands of people lost their lives or were subjected to extreme cruelty; around 1,000,000 people were displaced and as many as 60,000 children were abducted and forced to become child soldiers. Numerous children were orphaned. There was and still is a need for help. We responded in 2009 by providing grants for education to a small Ugandan CBO (Community Based Organisation) in Lira. Now, as Imara-Uganda Education Fund, we are awarding scholarships to some of the most disadvantaged children, mainly orphans, and bringing a new hope and purpose to their lives.
Our aim is also to raise the level of opportunity for schools and their communities through the provision of materials and facilities for education. Find out more…

SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND: Please help us to provide a secondary school for the blind next to their primary school in the Lira area and prevent blind children from dropping out of school with no secondary education. Work has begun on the first phase of the building.
